---------------- IC Information ------------------
CHARACTER'S FULL NAME: Brent Alexander Hannigan

SPECIES: Human

GENDER: Male

AGE: 31

ORIGIN: Los Gatos, CA

POWERS: Mad wine skillz, yo.

HISTORY: Brent was born on December 3, 1977 in Los Gatos to parents Jerome and Cynthia Hannigan. Four years prior, his parents had founded Valhalla Vineyards about three miles outside the city. Since his parents gave up their careers to live a dream of having a vineyard, Brent was raised with the idea that he could pursue any life he wished. (Fortunately, the vineyard became successful and is now a steady presence in Los Gatos.) His parents, in truth, never quite made it out of their hippie roots. In his house, there was always lots of love, wine, celebration, and--a little more discreetly--pot.

When he was a teenager, he discovered a love of art and painting. This was encouraged--to excess--by his over-supportive parents, so for a while he thought that he was considerably better than he actually was. When acceptances to art conservatories didn't come rolling in, he was bitterly disappointed. Still, wallowing in self-pity was not something encouraged by his parents, and they encouraged him to apply to regular colleges. He ended up at Hollins University to study Art History. He figured that, even if he couldn't paint for a living, he could make a career out of art.

After graduation, he moved to New York to try his hand at whatever you do with an Art History degree: working for galleries, museums, stuff like that. He never managed to be very successful. After a couple of years, in 2002, he got a call from his mother telling him that his father had taken ill. Brent did the only responsible thing he could think of: he came home. He picked up the slack at the vineyard and helped take care of both his parents. By the time his father recovered, he had found a certain amount of comfort at home. He began painting again, occasionally selling a piece in the tasting room. He got his own apartment in town, finding independence outside of working for his parents. And he's been there ever since. Making wine and making art. Good combo.

ROLE: TOWNIE COLOR, YO. COME DRINK AT HIS WINERY.

PERSONALITY: Brent is brightly witty once you get past a shy exterior. He's not the kind to strike up conversation with everyone he meets, though he makes a consistent effort to try and break out of his shell. His sense of humor is clever but warm: he doesn't usually make jokes at the expense of others (at least of the cruel nature). If he crosses a line, he'll apologize. (In Shakespearean terms, more Rosalind than Beatrice.) On the flip side, it's rare that he takes offense at others' senses of humor. He is very warm once you get to know him, and tries his best to be a forgiving person. Still, there is a bright fierceness underneath the mild exterior. He believes what he believes very strongly: that people are equals, that they should be treated as such. And though he is generally an optimist, he has a streak of reality from his own broken dreams. While he has moved on, it's not something one ever quite forgets. While not quite as much of a hippie as his parents, he is particularly liberal-minded and tries to be as inclusive as possible.

MISCELLANEOUS: Brent and his parents attend a local UCC church. It also happens to be the church attended by Ariadne's mother and--when she's in town--Ariadne herself! Their parents have been church friends for many years now. Also, he happens to be gay. He doesn't announce it to the world, but his parents taught him too much self-respect and tolerance to try and hide it.

---------------- IC Information ------------------
CHARACTER'S FULL NAME: Christine (Chris) Swifte

SPECIES: Mutant

GENDER: Female

AGE: 19

ORIGIN: Richland, Washington

POWERS: Chris has modified sight. She can focus her eyes on close things to about the strength of a 100x miscroscope, and she can see at a distance at 20/2 (Which is about what some raptors are thought to see at, for comparison). Her pupils dilate noticeably when she’s using the power, but only slightly more than the human maximum. At a glance, it would be similar to someone coming out of the optometrist. If she used the power continuously at maximum magnification, it would cut out from exhaustion at about an hour, but it causes her eyes to ache and gives her a headache well before that point, so she never uses it that long continuously. Given time to rest, she could use it on and off for several hours. The microscope effect is triggered by emotion, and is harder to get out of once she falls in when tired, much like focusing one’s eyes is an effort when normally tired.

HISTORY: Chris was born to Andrew’s parents less than a year before Andrew’s father walked out. She manifested messily when she was 12, frequently freaking out and falling into miscroscope mode and being unable to function with everything around her being blurry. Andrew transferred colleges to come live at home and help her and her sister, and she’s never forgotten that, and wants to pay it back someday. She was quiet and academic during high school, partly because she never knew when her vision was going to go wonky at a key moment because of the pressure, and make her unable to find the door to go inside after her first kiss on the porch, for example.

She applied to UW to go with her sister, and has been roommates with her for her first year and her sister’s second, but has lately not only been missing Andrew but also feeling like she’ll never find out who she is if she keeps living with her louder, more confident, brasher sister. She’s applied and been accepted to Santa Clara University.

ROLE: Chris is Andrew’s sister, obviously. She also has existing connections with Kitty and Kelsey, and is the right age group to hang with the younger set (Tom/Nadia/Ariadne, etc.) She can Ask Questions about Titan and be generally townie-ish.

PERSONALITY: Chris is very scientific, but about people, too. What makes them tick? What will happen someone does this or that to someone else? (Experiment!) It’s not that she like manipulating people, and she’d never do something herself just for the sake of experimenting, but when life presents her with the situation, she’s delighted to observe it carefully and take mental notes. Her family and friends and other social ties, are extremely important to her, and she’s someone who doesn’t stride off into unknown territory without knowing that someone’s there to support her. She’s still working through some shyness around boys and is thus still a virgin.

MISCELLANEOUS: Chris’s Spanish is better than her brother’s (still not fluent) because she actually paid attention in class.
