Boston is the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and one of the oldest cities in the United States. It remains the largest city in Massachusetts and the New England area, although its population has dropped by approximately 40 percent in the wake of the outbreak of the Covax Virus.
In scale, it initially compared to the economic destruction of 9/11 or Katrina, with the prolonged nature of the event leading to farther-reaching economic ripples for the Boston area. Over 20,000 Boston residents died over the course of the infection, making it the worst attack on American soil.
Major Events
- October 24th, 2009 - The Covax Virus was released on Boston during Darkwatch. Week after week stretched as people worked to contain and then cure the disease.
- November 6th, 2009 - Victor Creed leads an army of the infected in an assault on the Quarantine Zone. Thousands of infected are killed as well as hundreds of Marines.
- November 21st, 2009 - The cure to the Covax virus is dispersed via aerosol 'bombs'.
- December 3rd, 2009 - Boston is declared infection-free.
- October, 2010 - Boston: One Year Later, a retrospective article detailing the progress and recovery of the city, is published.
Major Locations
- Although slowly recovering from the Covax Virus, the infected zone is still only partially inhabited. Vast swathes have yet to be rebuilt and abandoned buildings are common.
