Dr. Moira MacTaggart 1990 Nobel Laureate for her 1989 discovery of X-Factor mutation in humans, Dr. MagTaggart is the head of the Muir Island Research Institute, and a long-time friend, ally and occasional paramour of Dr. Charles Xavier. She is the authority on mutants, as well as somewhat outspoken on the issue of mutants as members of humanity if quizzed. If you dare.
PersonalityFeisty, loyal and fiercely intelligent, Dr. MacTaggart is not known to suffer fools gladly, regardless of their rank or station. She is just as fiercely maternal, whether it's to her lab workers or to the various children that have found themselves with an adoptive mother over the years. Known AssociationsKnown Skills
Known HistoryMoira was born an heiress to a small Scottish keep, and the hereditary title of Lady Kinross that went with it. She met Charles Xavier while they were both at school at Oxford, and through him and his best friend Erik Lensherr became interested in understanding what lay behind the rise of near-paranormal abilities and appearances in some of the population. She met, married and divorced one Joe MacTaggart, and by the age of 30 had established a small and chronically under-funded research lab where she attracted other mavericks of the field of molecular biology. In 1989, at the age of 35, her years of research paid off. The first paper published to define mutation in terms of the X-Factor gene catapulted her to world attention and to a 19990 Nobel Prize for her work. Not content to rest on her laurels, she soon established the Muir Island Research Institute on a remote Scottish island, where independant work into puzzling out the whys and hows of the X-Factor's function continues in full swing.
