Roger Lowe was President of the United states from January 2005 to October 2006. He was most famous for pushing for stricter mutant legislation, including Sensitive Positions and the Mutant Registration Act.
He was assassinated by the Brotherhood of Mutants in October 2006.
Known History
In 2003, Republican Senator Roger Lowe declared his intention to run for his party's nomination in the presidential primaries. In spring of 2004, he won the nomination, and after a tough campaign that rode on a generally conservative agenda, family values, lower taxes, and the controversial Mutant Registration Act (MRA), he was elected President in November of 2004.
On February 25, 2005, Lowe was the victim of an assassination attempt during a rally in Central Park. It is widely suspected, although it has never been confirmed, that this was an attack by the Brotherhood of Mutants. During the course of events, Jean Grey revealed that she is a powerful telekinetic by blocking the President, several aides, and Sabitha Melcross from an explosion. Both Grey and Melcross were awarded Presidential Medals of Honor.
In September of 2006, reporter Harvey Rourke accused Lowe of manipulating mutants and creating violent incidents in order to shore up support for his campaign. Since then, a variety of people have come forward to support this claim, although others still believe that it's merely the work of mutant-lovers trying to smear Lowe's good name.
The debate raged, and Lowe's campaign was under investigation by the House Judiciary Committee when, on October 25th, he was assassinated in Washington, D.C. while traveling in a motorcade. While various groups have claimed responsibility, as of yet, the assassin has not yet been apprehended.
